Our long relationship with Basil Brush started in 1997 and still continues today. Initially the commission was to re-create and re-brand him for a new proposed television revival. Peter Firmin, his original designer in 1962, supplied archival references to assist in this process.

Prior to completion, the “new” upgraded version was presented to Ivan Owen, Basil’s original voice, for his approval. It was a resounding ‘Yes!’, so beginning a long and often hysterical journey that’s taken Basil, as built by DWS, from deepest Basildon to Buckingham Palace and the world over. In addition over 100 miniature costumes and comedy props have been designed and built to date. Basil’s family has also been extended and now includes Cousin Mortimer, Bingo and his girlfriend Roxy Fox.
